EUCNC – 6G Summit

June 4 @ 16:00 - 17:30

CASTOR actively participated in the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2025, which took place from June 3–6 in Poznan, Poland. On June 4, the project contributed to the session “Network Softwarization Technology Enablers for Trust and Security in B5G and 6G Networks”, where Ioannis Krontiris delivered a forward-looking presentation on “Trusted Path Routing & Path Validation for Beyond 5G Networks.”
As the digital ecosystem expanded, trust and security in communication networks became more critical than ever. The presentation explored the evolving landscape of hardware-assisted security architectures, many of which fell short when it came to supporting the vast range of already-deployed, resource-constrained embedded devices. These bare-metal systems (often operating without an OS or any form of protection) were particularly vulnerable to cyberattacks.
To address this, the session introduced various trust anchor mechanisms that ensured device integrity and secure operations. It then delved deeper into why dynamic trust assessments were essential for secure data exchange, especially in safety-critical contexts such as Connected Cars and Trusted Path Routing.
Finally, Mr. Krontiris outlined a vision for Compute Continuum-wide trust quantification—a promising direction that incorporated adaptive mechanisms for assessing both hardware and software trustworthiness. These trust scores, rooted in decentralized systems, were key to enabling scalable, resilient, and secure networks for Beyond 5G (B5G) and future 6G infrastructures.
The CASTOR project was proud to contribute to this strategic dialogue, offering critical insights and technological advancements that paved the way for secure and trusted next-generation networks.
